About Us

Just another couple of women in love and pouring all their energy, hopes, dreams, love and finances into creating a family of our own.

Tui is 34 and K is 38, and we’re proud kiwis who still call New Zealand home. Tui has a boring office job while K is a high school teacher at an anything-but-boring school (yes the stereotypical dyke pe teacher lol).

We met in 2001 and married (well civil unioned – as close as we can get in NZ) in 2005, 4 years to the day after we met. We have spent the past few years soul searching and after getting though an astounding amount of testing for both us and our known donor BD (short for Baby Daddy) we started ttc January 2008. And well, it’s taken a little longer than we expected…

We’ve now been through 12 unsuccessful IUI cycles and 1 unsuccessful IVF cycle. Things have ground to a halt somewhat right now, mostly due to finances, but we are hoping to try another IVF cycle in 2010.

It has been an incredibly bumpy road getting here, and the end isn’t quite in sight yet. What started out as a happy, hopeful record of our quest has had to evolve to include the downside of ttc, but I still hope that there will be another upward spiral before our story is complete.

Hi – my wife and I are also TTC so just wanted to throw you a little solidarity shout-out. We got a negative test result last Saturday. Luckily I’ve stumbled on to all of these wonderful blogs by other lesbian couples trying to start a family. It’s inspired me to start my our journal of our progress. Feel free to check it out.

    Good luck and take care!

    Hi ladies,

Just started my blog yesterday, and after poking around some folks’ sites today, realized that my blog name is quite similar to yours. I hope it brings us both luck.
