Happy Holidays

I can’t believe it’s already all over, but we’re back from our holiday now. It was a fantastic week.. we loved every minute of it. We packed so much in that we couldn’t possibly have done any more and our only regret is that we didn’t have longer. I would definitely love to go back there for longer, and next time explore some of the other islands.. despite a last ditch effort/dream to get across to Kauai it was just too hard to fit it in, but that’s what return visits are for, right?

It is such a beautiful place, and our best days were when we got out of the main centres and got to explore on our own. The number one highlight without a doubt was biking from Sunset Beach, stopping off at Pipeline, Shark’s Cove and Waimea Valley Falls before ending up at Waimea Beach – it was awesome!!

Shark’s Cove had some awesome rock pools too – I love rock pools and back home the most exciting stuff we usually find is hermit crabs and sea anenomes. These ones were filled with all kind of different baby tropical fish, only in ankle deep water it was amazing. Also right up there was snorkelling at Hanauma Bay at about 7am, and having a turtle cruise up and swim around us when we were the only people in that part of the water.  Hopefully the underwater camera pics come out for that one, it was pretty special!

I had a wonderful birthday thanks to my wonderful wife (and the turtle), and I’m looking forward to seeing what she does to top it next year! Jokes, I know this is the end of our extravagant birthdays, but damn it was good while it lasted.

Sadly it went way too quickly, and now we’re back at work and slap bang in the middle of a miserable, dreary, cold winter.

On the plus side, Dogface is very happy to be home from the kennels (she was in for a night either side of our trip so it was by far the longest time away from home/us for her). The cats are also pleased to have us home, although secretly I’m sure they enjoyed having the house to themselves with no dog. They even managed to eat twice as much as usual, and conned the cat sitter into bringing them even more food from her house! If only there had been someone to light the fire for them at night and they would have been in heaven.

But for us, we just miss the beach!

A, it’s about 8 1/2 hours from here so not two bad, it’s 22 hours behind there so time difference is fairly simple

I hope you will post more pics! I can’t wait to see them! I’m so happy you enjoyed your vacation and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I say go back for sure. The first time we went we only stayed a week and we vowed that whenever we went back in the future it would be for at least 10 days.

I hope the magic will keep you through the cold dreary season.
