Best laid plans and all that.. of course the insem fell today while we were supposed to be up in Auckland at K’s sister’s 40th party. We had told them that we needed at least 2 hours notice to get there – normally we hear about 12pm so when we hadn’t heard anything by 1.40 we thought we were sweet.
But no, we had a phone call at 1.50 telling us to get there asap, we said we couldn’t (90 minutes away) so negotiated a 4pm appointment which let us get through the lunch and ten pin bowling. We still had to leave much earlier than we wanted but we’re so glad we got to be there for that much – we’d warned the birthday girl what was happening and she was kinda supportive but I know she would’ve been upset if we hadn’t made it at all or only for a few minutes.
Anyway, we eventually got to the clinic a few minutes late, a bit anxious from the rush and because the nurse working this weekend is one of the not so good ones (bad insem experiences). As it turned out, with the sidney ivf catheter we always ask for now (more rigid and longer I think) she wasn’t so bad. The only complaint was that she spent so long actually injecting the sperm that K got nauseous (seriously that part took about 3-4 minutes – waaaay longer than normal).
So it’s in, it’s done, we’re into our 11th tww. We didn’t get to do acupuncture this time as it’s the weekend. Mr CMM had said to us that if we had a weekend insem and he was home he would do it specially, but sadly he wasn’t home. We’re not that worried about it though – we kinda feel like now we’ve done everything we can over the last 18 months and it’s just going to come down to luck in the end.
