We’re back home now after a few days away at my parent’s place for Christmas. It was a very small and quiet Christmas really, just my parents, us and one of my brothers for dinner. None of the usual mobs of kids that are normally at both of our families’ Christmases. We did get in some baby time when we visited our 11 month nephew and his mother for breakfast but other than that it was a very grown up day. We didn’t even open the presents until 1pm because we got so busy! It was nice relaxing time though and the only argument I got into was with my father – and I gave up because he wasn’t even arguing about the same thing as I was lol. Even though I couldn’t wait to leave my home town when I was growing up, I just love going back there to visit. It’s definitely changed a lot in the 10 years since I left which helps.
We were lucky with our travelling too, we left a day before most people so there wasn’t too much traffic on the road. We did see one reasonably nasty accident right in front of us and my brother ended up with a bit of damage on his car avoiding someone who crossed the centre line but thankfully we all got there and back safe and well.
The weather packed in on Christmas Eve and was wet and windy but then we ended up with a very beautiful day on the 25th – sadly it clouded over again at night before I could use my new telescope!
We got home yesterday and had a relaxing and quiet night at home before picking up the dog from the kennels this morning. No matter how annoying or frustrating she can be, there’s no denying the love in the way that she greets us! Apparently she had a great time there, the place we left her this time actually socializes the dogs together and so our previously shy and scared puppy was bouncing around with her friends confidently – we’re so happy cos we were a bit worried about that!
TTC- wise, the ‘erbs have been… ‘erbing… K went back to Mr Chinese Medicine Man and he did some acupuncture on Monday, and she picks up the next lot of ‘erbs in a couple days. We’re not 100% sure if we’re going ahead with January’s cycle yet, there are a few other health issues going on that may need sorting out first. More tests next week for those and hopefully nothing serious.
Today we went shopping to check out day 2 of the Boxing Day sales and at one time or another nearly bought; a wii, lounge suite, dining suite, laptop, stereo system, bookcase, cellphone, recliner. There’s no way we would have bought ALL of that but right now we’re kinda proud that we walked away without ANY of it. No matter how nice or cheap it was we don’t NEED it, and with ttc don’t really know how much money we’re gonna need next year. Even so we’re real good at talking each other into spending money so it’s a big deal that we got it the right way around for a change!
Now we have the next 7 days at home together, we probably will take a couple of day trips here and there, but nothing major. And then next weekend we have Christmas #2 with K’s family the day before I go back to work. yum – more turkey!!
