Back to it

We’re back on CD2 now, counting down til the next insemination, except maybe we’re more relaxed about it this time, knowing what to expect.

K is back at school now, so things are getting back into school term mode. Even though it’s been years since I was at school, it still reminds me of that feeling when the holidays are over and summer’s nearly finished.

That said, today is Waitangi Day, so we’ve both got the day off – I think it is a fantastic idea to have wednesdays off work. Two days are so much easier to get through at a time than five lol. It’s yet another beautiful day but not quite so hot which is great! This summer has been the driest in over 100 years in our district – everything is dried out and brown and supposedly we won’t get much rain until at least April.

We’ve been going to the movies a lot lately, reasoning that it’s one thing that we won’t be able to do easily once we have kids, and we’ve been having a pretty good run with what we’ve seen and coming out pretty satisfied (the last three being Alvin and the Chipmunks, Death at a Funeral and Juno).

Now, I think we’ve done our dash with that – we decided to go to a movie today and really it was incredibly stupid. It tried to be stupid, and did have some funny parts, but for $30 bucks for tickets – not so satisfying. Oh well, the good movie luck was due to run out sometime.

Actually the funniest part was that it was in the new ‘allocated seat only’ theatre so the ticket guy made sure to tell us what seats to take – only for us to walk and be the only ones there (probably a good sign the movie was going to suck too).

Yesterday was a baby picture day, I got sent some pics of my new nephew and also my friend’s 11 week old baby girl. Much cuteness.

What is K taking at school? And what is Waitangi Day??? I think it’s awesome that you two are spending a lot of time doing things you won’t be able to as new parents.. Gotta keep that relationship strong!!! It’s so easy to lose that “spark” while ttc.

K teaches high school PE/Health and it’s (maybe obviously from my post!) just the first week of the school year.

In a nutshell, Waitangi Day is a public holiday on the anniversary of the day that the Treaty of Waitangi was signed between the Maori tribes and the British settlers in NZ in 1840.

I guess it’s really our founding document but it’s actually a very complex issue. Basically it made NZ part of the British Empire but there were two versions – one in Maori and one in English – and the versions and understanding of these differed significantly so there’s a lot of debate over what was actually agreed.
